Princess Park Keyhole Loop

Princess Park, owned by Grand Lake Municipality, is the start and end point of this loop route.

The park itself has a great launch into Grand Lake, as well as a kayak rental operation, a canteen, and a campground.

From the park, it’s a 600 m paddle to the causeway, followed by a short portage over the road and into what’s known as the Keyhole, which offers more wind-protected paddling.

Paddled to the end of the wetland, the route can be 5 to 6 km out and back, depending on water levels, but it can easily be shortened.

Princess Park Keyhole Loop

This is classic New Brunswick cottage country, but you can still escape into nature.
Setting off along the shore of Grand Lake, it’s a 600 m paddle to the causeway, followed by a very short portage over the road.
From there, it’s straight east into the Keyhole and up into a natural wetland backwater, with plenty of opportunities to see birds, including osprey and eagles.
From the causeway, you can paddle up to 2.5 km, depending on water levels.
It makes for a wonderful paddle, particularly if you’re staying at the campground or at one of the many nearby Airbnbs.
Kayak rentals are available in the park at the Princess Park kiosk.
